(FREEPORT, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislator Seth I. Koslow (D – Merrick) and Alternate Deputy Minority Leader Debra Mulé (D – Freeport) partnered with the Office of Nassau County District Attorney Anne T. Donnelly host senior scam prevention workshops at Freeport’s Salvation Army Senior Center on Friday, May 9 and Bethel AME Church on Tuesday, May 13.
More than 100 seniors attended the two workshops, where experts from the DA’s office provided community members with valuable guidance for protecting themselves from becoming victims of criminals who seek to exploit them.
“There must be zero tolerance in our society for unscrupulous criminals who seek to steal from our seniors – and through these workshops, we are fulfilling our duty to fight back against these predators,” Legislator Koslow said. “As a former prosecutor, I was especially gratified that so many of our neighbors took the initiative to empower and protect themselves, and I thank Alternate Deputy Minority Leader Mulé and the DA’s office for their partnership.”
“Vigilance, awareness and knowledge are the most powerful tools we have at our disposal to stop scam artists before they strike – and I am truly encouraged by the fact that so many Freeporters took the initiative to join us for these workshops,” Alternate Deputy Minority Leader Mulé said. “Thank you to Legislator Koslow, the District Attorney’s office and our gracious hosts for making these workshops so impactful and successful!”
