[ARCHIVED] Legislator Mulé Attends Dedication of Rotary Peace Pole

(FREEPORT, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislature Alternate Deputy Minority Leader Debra Mulé (D – Freeport) joined the Rotary Club of Freeport-Merrick at the Freeport Memorial Library on Saturday, June 27 as they dedicated a new Peace Pole outside the library.

A Peace Pole is a hand-crafted 8-foot-high pole with a Plexiglas plaque on each side that displays the message and prayer, “May Peace Prevail on Earth”, on each of its eight sides, in different languages. According to Rotary International, there are currently more than 250,000 Peace Poles in 180 countries.

“At such a fraught time in the history of the world, this monument is a visible reminder that peace is not just a word, but an action,” Alternate Deputy Minority Leader Mulé said. “It is a sentiment that we need to keep close to our hearts at all times, and I thank the Rotary Club of Freeport-Merrick for taking this step to spread that message.”
