On September 23rd, Legislator Bill Gaylor and the members of the Nassau County Legislature honored the four police officers who responded to last month’s active shooter at Roosevelt Middle School in Roosevelt. The Legislature honored Police Officers Christopher White, Matthew Timpanaro, Andrew Mirenda and James Higgins, for their quick response to the call of an active shooter, and their quick thinking to evacuate the scene, set up a perimeter around the suspect’s house and call in the Bureau of Special Operations to extract the suspect. Thanks to them, a potential terrible situation was diffused with no one hurt.
