(ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y.) - Nassau County Legislator Scott M. Davis (D – Rockville Centre) partnered with the Family & Children’s Association to host a scam prevention workshop at the Rockville Centre Public Library on Wednesday, Sept. 16.
Experts provided community members with valuable guidance for protecting themselves from becoming victims of criminals who seek to exploit them. Topics will include an exploration of what financial abuse and exploitation is; who is targeted and why; ways financial abuse and exploitation occur; scams to be aware of; red flags for signs of financial abuse; ways to protect yourself; and what to do if you have been victimized by a scammer.
“Far too frequently, we hear infuriating stories in the news about how our neighbors have been exploited by unscrupulous scammers – and these incidents only redouble my commitment to doing everything in my power to stop them before they can hurt another family,” Legislator Davis said. “I’m thankful to organizations like the Family & Children’s Association for leading these events and connecting our communities with these valuable resources.”
