(SOUTH HEMPSTEAD, N.Y.) - Nassau County Legislator Scott M. Davis (D – Rockville Centre) presented a $43,350 Community Revitalization Project (CRP) grant to the South Hempstead Fire District on Saturday, Sept. 19.
The funds, which were approved by the Legislature on July 27, were applied toward the purchase of two Defibtech Lifeline ARM Automated Chest Compression Devices. During a visit alongside New York State Senator Siela A. Bynoe and Nassau Legislature Alternate Deputy Minority Leader Debra Mulé (D – Freeport), South Hempstead FD officials demonstrated the lifesaving devices, which provide uniform, sustained chest compressions to patients.
“As elected officials and public servants, ensuring that our first responders are equipped to excel during emergency responses is one of our fundamental responsibilities,” Legislator Davis said. “I am proud to support all of our first responders in communities across Nassau County, and I take great comfort from knowing that South Hempstead firefighters will have this state-of-the-art, life-saving technology at their disposal.”
