WHAT – Nassau County Legislator Scott M. Davis (D – Rockville Centre) is partnering with the Office of the Nassau County Executive, the Nassau County Police Department’s Office of Community Affairs, Nassau County’s Office of the Crime Victims’ Advocate, and the Office for the Aging to host a scam prevention workshop at the Roosevelt Public Library on Monday, Nov. 2.
During the event, experts will provide community members with valuable guidance for protecting themselves from becoming victims of criminals who seek to exploit them. Topics will include an exploration of what financial abuse and exploitation is; who is targeted and why; ways financial abuse and exploitation occur; scams to be aware of; red flags for signs of financial abuse; ways to protect yourself; and what to do if you have been victimized by a scammer.
“Each of us has the power to protect ourselves, our loved ones, and our community from predatory scam artists, and the workshop we are bringing to the Roosevelt Public Library will help to cultivate the level of vigilance, awareness, and education needed to stop criminals in their tracks,” Legislator Davis said. “I am looking forward to working with my partners in County government to bring this important workshop to Roosevelt on Nov. 2.
