(ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y.) - Nassau County Legislator Scott M. Davis (D – Rockville Centre) presented a $40,000 Community Revitalization Program (CRP) grant to the Incorporated Village of Rockville Centre on Monday, Oct. 5. The funds, which were approved by the full Legislature on July 27, will be applied toward the installation of outdoor exercise equipment that is being donated to the Village by Mercy Hospital. The installation will be situated along the trail that surrounds the playground and courts at Veterans Park located on the site of the Rockville Centre Recreation Center.
“Parks are an important part of a healthy community, and the addition of outdoor fitness equipment at Veterans Park will create new opportunities for residents of all ages to stay active, improve their health, and enjoy the outdoors,” Rockville Centre Mayor Francis X. Murray said. “We are grateful to Mercy Hospital for donating the exercise equipment and to Legislator Scott Davis for securing the grant funding for its installation, which will make this project possible. This investment builds on our commitment to providing recreational amenities that enhance quality of life and encourage healthy living.”
“Access to physical fitness resources should not be seen as a luxury, but as an accessible building block for a healthy lifestyle,” Legislator Davis said. “That is why installing this outdoor exercise equipment at Veterans Park is so important, and I thank my Legislative colleagues, the Village of Rockville Centre and Mercy Hospital for supporting these important upgrades.”
