(UNOINDALE, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislator Kevan M. Abrahams (D – Freeport) honored the dedicated volunteers at the Uniondale Early Childhood Center’s “We Care Food Pantry” for their hard work and commitment to serving their community and families in need.

“During the COVID-19 pandemic, the number of families facing food insecurity has reached an all-time high” Legislator Abrahams said. “With the help and support of volunteers, the ‘We Care Food Pantry’ is able to meet the needs of families not just in Uniondale but all across Nassau County”.

Founded by Dr. Mary Cameron, the “We Care Food Pantry” has been serving residents of Uniondale and its surrounding communities for 28 years. Each month, the pantry feeds hundreds of Nassau County residents facing food insecurity.

“The ‘We Care Food Pantry’ continued to provide residents with quality and healthy food every Wednesday with the help of volunteers,” Dr. Cameron said. “I am grateful for our food sponsors, Long Island Cares and Shop Rite in Uniondale, and  to all of our volunteers who dedicate their time to giving back to their community. Without their help, we wouldn’t be able to what we do.”
