(BALDWIN, N.Y.) - Nassau County Legislature Alternate Deputy Minority Leader Debra Mulé (D – Freeport) and Legislator Scott M. Davis (D – Rockville Centre) proudly joined with American Legion Post 246 and the greater community as they commemorated Memorial Day in Baldwin.
The event, which was held at Baldwin Veterans Memorial Plaza in Silver Lake Park, followed the community’s annual parade, which stepped off from outside the North Baldwin post office and proceeded southbound on Grand Avenue to the Baldwin Veterans Memorial Plaza at Silver Lake Park. The remembrance ceremony at the park paid tribute to all who lost their lives while serving in America’s armed forces.
“Memorial Day is a time to honor every man and woman who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of the freedoms we are so privileged to enjoy in this country,” Alternate Deputy Minority Leader Mulé said. “Thank you to the leaders of American Legion Post 246 for coordinating these gatherings and ensuring we never lose sight of the real meaning of this solemn day.”
“Silver Lake Park is a beautiful and reflective setting for paying tribute to the hometown heroes who laid down their lives in service to America, and the presence of the greater Baldwin community further demonstrates Nassau County’s commitment to honoring our heroes,” Legislator Davis said. “I thank American Legion Post 246 for all they do to serve our veterans and ensure the memory of all who made the ultimate sacrifice live on for eternity.”
