(FREEPORT, N.Y.) Ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday, Nassau County Legislator Kevan Abrahams (D - Freeport) partnered with Jeremy’s Ale House, Freeport Schools, and community members to host a Drive Thru Style Thanksgiving dinner for more than 60 deserving families on Wednesday, Nov 25.

“Under the best of circumstances, the holiday season can place tremendous financial strain on hard-working local families. The COVID-19 pandemic has only worsened this situation - especially for those of our neighbors continuing to grapple with food insecurity,” Legislator Abrahams said. “I am truly moved by the generosity of so many Nassau County residents and Jeremy’s Ale House for sponsoring this Thanksgiving dinner and making the holidays brighter for Freeport families”.

“Now, more than ever, we have to look out for each other. Not only as a business owner but also a resident of Freeport,” said Jason Holin, President, Jeremy’s Ale House. “I was honored when Legislator Abrahams’ office reached out to me to prepare Thanksgiving meals for neighbors in need. We are Freeporters and it was a welcomed way for myself and the staff of Jeremy’s Ale House to support our Freeport community”.

“During these unprecedented times more families are facing financial hardship, this event not only helped provide families with hot meals but some comfort in knowing that the Freeport community is here for them,” said Maria Jordan-Awalom, Freeport School Board Trustee. “Thank you to Legislator Kevan Abrahams for his continued and unconditional support to Freeport families”.

Families received hot thanksgiving dinners with all of the trimmings, beverages, dessert, a family board game, plates, cups, utensils, PPE and a gift card to either Burger King or Domino’s to help feed the family another day. The Marines also gave children from each family toys donated by Toys for Tots.
