(UNIONDALE, N.Y.) - Nassau County Legislator Kevan M. Abrahams (D - Freeport) thanked Glory House Recovery Inc. and Bethpage Federal Credit Union for the generous support they delivered to First Legislative District residents during the holiday season.

For the last 10 years, Legislator Abrahams has partnered with Glory House to host their annual “Holiday of Giving” event to spread cheer to the children and their families. However, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the event was reimagined to protect the health and safety of participants.

“The holiday season is particularly challenging for residents who are facing financial hardships especially during these uncertain times,” said Legislator Abrahams. “That is why I am so grateful to Bethpage Federal Credit Union and Glory House for their generosity and commitment to brightening the lives of deserving First Legislative District families.”

Glory House partnered with Legislator Abrahams to host a virtual “Holiday of Giving Family Game Night” for families living in the First Legislative District. Participants enjoyed a night of family fun and received toys, games and other gifts provided by community partners.

In addition to the game night, Bethpage Federal Credit Union partnered with Glory House and they chose to provide 100 families, selected by the school districts in LD1, with $100 gift cards to help purchase holiday gifts. The gift cards were funded through a $10,000 donation to Glory House from Bethpage Cares - a program that helps fund not-for-profit organizations and supports their community service initiatives.

“We are so thankful we had the opportunity to partner with Glory House and help support Long Island families during the holiday season,” said Rob Suarez, Assistant Vice President for Community Development at Bethpage Federal Credit Union.

“Without the help of Bethpage Federal Credit Union, we would not have been able to meet the needs of the community,” said Terenna Williams, founder of Glory House Recovery Inc. “I am eternally thankful for their $10,000 donation, which empowered us to support deserving families in our community.”
