Legislator Kevan M. Abrahams and Glory House to Host
National Night Out with the Uniondale Fire District
WHAT: Nassau County Legislator Kevan M. Abrahams (D - Freeport), in partnership with the Uniondale Fire District, Glory House Recovery, Inc., the Nassau County Police Department, Heeling Soles, Inc. and UnitedHealthCare present National Night Out at the Uniondale Fire District’s Sherman Van Ness Fire Station on Tuesday, Aug. 6.
Held in thousands of communities each year on the first Tuesday in August, National Night Out Against Crime is a crime prevention and awareness initiative that seeks to promote “police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live.” National Night Out enhances relationships between law enforcement and communities by bringing police and residents together in a fun, welcoming atmosphere.
Attractions include free food, games, music, bouncy attractions, prizes and giveaways, an appearance by Sparky the robotic fire dog and a display of law enforcement vehicles. New this year, the Nassau County Office of the Aging will distribute $20 in Farmers Market Nutrition Program vouchers (FMNP – a federally funded program) to qualified low-income senior citizens that can be redeemed at the Baldwin-Freeport Farmers Market on Saturdays located at the Baldwin LIRR Train Station on Sunrise Highway between Milburn and Brookside Avenues.
Additional sponsors and donors include the Nassau County Department of Emergency Management, Nassau County Police Department Explorers, Uniondale Fire Department Junior Firefighters, Town of Hempstead and Hurricane Grill & Wings of Garden City.
